Challenges, Growth, and Success

Purposes of Practicum

The SEA Teacher Program aims to provide cross-border teaching experiences for education students across Southeast Asia. Through this program, participants gain a deeper understanding of different educational systems, develop pedagogical skills, and improve their communication and adaptability.

The benefits I gained from this program include:

  1. A deeper understanding of the Philippine education system, particularly at Tapaz Central Elementary School.

  2. First-hand experience teaching in an international environment, broadening my perspective on education.

  3. Improved English language skills.

  4. Exposure to more innovative and interactive teaching methods.

Procedures of Practicum

My teaching practicum during SEA Teacher Batch 10 consisted of several stages:

  1. Observation: I observed the teaching and learning process in Grade 2 SSES, studied the teaching methods used by my cooperating teacher, Ma'am Josephine F. Gardose, and familiarized myself with students’ characteristics.

  2. Teaching Assistance: I helped Ma'am Josephine manage the classroom, decorate the learning environment, interact with students, and prepare teaching materials.

  3. Final Demonstration: I developed a Detailed Lesson Plan (DLP), prepared teaching aids, created PowerPoint slides, and taught the topic "Measuring Time" using interactive methods.

  4. Evaluation and Reflection: I reflected on the lessons I conducted and assessed students' learning outcomes through worksheets and exercises.
