Learning from the Best Part 1
During my SEA Teacher program at Tapaz Central Elementary School (TCES), I had the opportunity to observe and collaborate with Ma’am Josephine F. Gardose, who served as both the class adviser and my cooperating teacher for Grade 2 SSES. From my observations, she is an experienced educator with effective teaching methods and a deep sense of care for her students. Below are my insights into her teaching approach and how she guides her students.
Planning for Teaching
Ma’am Josephine systematically plans her lessons based on the Philippine National K-12 Curriculum. Her lesson planning includes:
-
Aligning with the academic standards set by the Philippine Department of Education (DepEd) to ensure that the material taught meets the required competencies.
-
Selecting teaching methods that match the characteristics of Grade 2 SSES students, who are highly active and require activity-based and hands-on learning approaches.
Preparing Lessons and Materials
To make learning more engaging and interactive, Ma’am Josephine utilizes a variety of resources and teaching media. These include:
-
Textbooks as the primary reference material.
-
LED TV in the classroom to display visual content.
-
Additional teaching materials, either self-made or provided by the school, to enhance students' understanding.
