Teaching in Class

Ma’am Josephine’s teaching style is highly interactive, patient, firm, and attentive toward her students. Some key aspects I observed in her classroom teaching include:

  • Using a combination of lecture and hands-on activities, ensuring that students are not just passive listeners but active participants in the learning process.

  • Encouraging students to ask questions and express their opinions by providing thought-provoking questions.

  • Giving immediate feedback, praising students for correct answers and guiding those who need extra help.

Additionally, she maintains a close relationship with her students, fostering a comfortable and supportive learning environment.

  

Measurement and Evaluation

Ma’am Josephine implements a comprehensive assessment system to evaluate students' understanding, including:

  • Worksheets and exercises after each lesson to measure comprehension.

  • Observation during lessons, where she closely monitors students' grasp of the material and provides additional guidance if needed.

  • Classroom discussions and Q&A sessions to assess students' ability to explain concepts.

  • Remedial learning sessions for students who struggle with certain topics, ensuring they receive extra support to catch up.

This approach ensures that every student fully understands the lesson before moving on to the next topic.

Beyond academics, I also noticed that Ma’am Josephine places a strong emphasis on character development. She consistently instills values such as discipline, teamwork, and responsibility in her students.

Another remarkable aspect of her teaching is how she creates a positive and conducive classroom environment. Throughout my observation, Grade 2 SSES felt like a welcoming and enjoyable place to learn, where students not only gained academic knowledge but also learned to collaborate and respect one another.

During my SEA Teacher program at Tapaz Central Elementary School (TCES), I observed various pedagogical methods and approaches used in the learning process. Here are some key aspects I learned about teaching methods, innovations in learning, resources, and assessment systems at the school. Teaching Methods At TCES, teachers use a variety of teaching methods to cater to students' needs, especially in the Grade 2 SSES class where I taught. Exploring Education in the Philippines

During my participation in the SEA Teacher Batch 10 program in the Philippines, I had the opportunity to teach at Tapaz Central Elementary School (TCES). With my background in Mathematics education, I taught the subject with the topic "Measuring Time" to second-grade students at TCES. School Profile Tapaz Central Elementary School (TCES) is a primary school with hundreds of students from grades 1 to 6. The curriculum focuses on developing fundamental skills such as reading, writing, and arithmetic, along with character-building and social values. The atmosphere at TCES is warm and inclusive.
